Dr. Mandy Dixon

Mandy is Senior Manager for Business Engagement in Lancaster University’s Faculty of Health and Medicine, where she is the professional lead for engagement and strategic partnerships with the health sector. She is involved in the development of Lancaster University’s new Health Innovation Campus, which is due to open in 2019.

Mandy has a background in health research and research management, and brings a deep understanding of the development and funding of health partnership working across disciplines and sectors. For example, she co-ordinated the £1.7m funding application to NHS England which resulted in the development of the Lancashire and Cumbria Innovation Alliance, one of 7 NHS England Test Beds nationally. She continues to be involved as a member of the evaluation team and works with other NHS England initiatives including the local Healthy New Town programme.

She has a particular interest in successful public/private sector collaboration, bid development, evaluation, digital health and health innovation.Previously Mandy managed the Lancaster Health Hub, a strategic partnership between Lancaster University and the NHS, and prior to this she held a range of research and management roles within the NHS in the Midlands and Lancashire. Mandy is originally from South Africa, where she worked as a Social Anthropologist at the Medical Research Council in Cape Town before moving to the UK.
