I became the Chairman of the n-compass Board in July 2016 but have been a Trustee with n-compass for a number of years. I am delighted to be able to report that n-compass has enjoyed a very successful 12 month period which has involved the retention of key contracts as well as a good period of business growth.
The quality of the services we deliver is paramount and the achievement of contractual targets and positive service user and stakeholder feedback is testament to that. This is something we will fiercely protect now and in the future.
We supported 11,000 individuals in the Lancashire Wellbeing Service making a real difference to their ability to lead happy and healthier lives. n-compass is one of three providers of this service and we continue to work closely alongside Age Concern Central Lancashire and Richmond Fellowship in this regard.
Our Advocacy services have gone from strength to strength. We continue deliver services in Lancashire alongside Advocacy Focus, and we have secured new contracts in the Wirral, St Helen’s and in Blackburn with Darwen where we deliver all forms of Advocacy through a Hub model.
We continue to deliver the Lancashire Adult Carers Service alongside Carers Link who cover East Lancashire.
We have secured a new Universal Carers Service in Rochdale which we are delivering in partnership with Child Action Northwest – this will see us support Adult and Young Carers alike.
We continue to try and work towards our Counselling services becoming self-sustaining.
Unfortunately this aim was dealt a blow when one of our CCG contracts (East Lancashire) which funded the work we delivered to support Young People who Self Harm wasn’t continued. However, we continue to deliver this service in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble and the Fylde and Wyre CCG areas. We have worked alongside UCLAN to develop an awareness raising social media campaign (#behindthesmile) and we were also delighted to win a national award for the work we deliver in schools to some of our most vulnerable young people.
In terms of our fantastic staffing team we have been working hard to deliver against our annual staff satisfaction action plan – in 2016 82% of staff agreed that n-compass was a great place to work. This was further cemented with the achievement of the Silver standard of the Investors in People award in March 2017.
As a Board we have continued to work with the SMT in looking forward and agreeing a set of guiding principles that will help shape the way that n-compass develops. This has resulted in a clear Strategic Plan for 2017-2020 which we will now focus on resourcing and delivering.
